3. Center Electrode: Located at the center of the spark plug, the center electrode extends into the combustion chamber. It is usually made of nickel alloy or precious metals like platinum or iridium, known for their high melting points and durability. The voltage from the ignition coil is sent to the center electrode to generate the spark.

4. Ground Electrode: Positioned adjacent to the center electrode, the ground electrode provides a path to the spark plug's shell. It helps to bridge the gap and create a spark by allowing electrical current to flow from the center electrode to the ground.

5. Gap: The gap refers to the distance between the center electrode and the ground electrode. This space is critical, as it determines the intensity and effectiveness of the spark. It is typically set to a specific measurement according to the vehicle manufacturer's recommendations.

6. Hex Nut: At the base of the spark plug, you'll find a hexagonal-shaped nut. It allows for easy installation and removal of the spark plug using a properly sized socket wrench.

7. Seals: Spark plugs incorporate various seals to prevent leakage of combustion gases and engine oil. These seals ensure a tight fit between the spark plug and the cylinder head, maintaining a good compression seal.
